A beautiful example of theRolex Submariner 5513, Mk.5. This stunning Submariner reference 5513 hails from 1983 and comes in excellent condition with a faded dial to die for!

The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 and remained in production until 1990, making it one of the longest-running references in Rolex history.

It was introduced as a more affordable alternative to the 5512, which was launched just three years earlier in 1959. Being almost visually identical to the 5512 (many would say cleaner looking with fewer lines of text on the dial) the 5513's lack of a premium COSC-certified movement allowed it to be marketed at a keener price point.

During its production run from 1962 to 1990, the 5513 was offered in several different variations including gilt dials from 1962-1966, matte dials from circa 1966-1984 and gloss dials from 1984-1990.

The latter matte dials, to which this watch belongs, came in five variations, named MK.1-Mk.5. From circa 1976 Rolex boosted the size of the indices for improved legibility underwater which led to the name "Maxi dials". Today these Maxi dial 5513's are highly sought after by collectors for their unique look.

The mattte dial 5513's also represent what many believe to be the last true non-date vintage Submariner. Withtheir lacklack of applied indices and sporting a classic acrylic crystal these Subs ooze understated charm that a modern Sub could only dream of!
